about

In Take It It Myrwood relives the period when time after time, trigger after trigger, she gave in to the temptation of numbing herself with food. Myrwoo: 'I have a love/hate relationship with it and was stuck in a vicious circle. With binge eating and compensating I numbed myself. There is emptiness in that, but also the temptation of running away from your responsibilities. It's a form of coping" An unhealthy relationship with food and urge for destruction was already evident in Myrwood's life: She is diagnosed with Anorexia in her college days and treated for it. After successful treatment and back to target weight, she wants to live fuller than ever. But the urge for destruction lingers on for years and expresses itself in many forms. She writes "Take It In in the middle of this period full of triggers and temptations. During the corona crisis, when everyone comes to a forced halt, she only realizes the pattern she was in. Myrwood: “I destroyed myself for years with my own behavior. Was insatiable and kept falling into the trap. I wrote Take It In and it wasn't until the world stopped turning that I realized: I had captured in this exact feeling I was trying to run away from.”

'Take It In' is part of the Brussels-based album 'City Soundscape' recorded with producer/ engineer Michiel De Maeseneer (Sylvie Kreusch, Balthazar, Warhouse, Wende) that will be released later this year, both on vinyl and digitally. This is partly thanks to the support of SENA. The master was done by Pieter de Wagter (Oscar & The Wolf, Stromae).

+ In the lead up to the release of the single Myrwood performed an art project that takes her back to the destructive eating patterns that are at the core of the song. She lives for 4 days in a Bulimia Nervosa pattern and for that she documents food and binge eating in a photo series that can be viewed in a digital art gallery. lyrics

Broken promises
Dim the light
I don’t know what this is
Keep me out of sight

At first, I was so sure
Now I’m tumbling tumbling down
The truth is we care no more
admitting lies within

I’m sure
This will disappear
Nothing more to wish for
I am here

I’m sure this feeling goes away
At least I do know what I want
I am here to stay

Progress does it all
Standing still keeps me from it
Know this before I fall
You’re done with this, admit

I’m sure
This will disappear
Nothing more to wish for
I am here

I’m sure this feeling goes away
At least I do know what I want
I am here to stay

Take it in, take it in, take it in
Take it in till I can’t feel anything
Take it in

Take it in, take it in, take it in
Take it in till I can’t feel anything
Take it in

Take it in, take it in, take it in
Take it in till I can’t feel anything
Take it in

Take it in, take it in, take it in
Take it in till I can’t feel anything
Take it in

Take it in, take it in, take it in
Take it in till I can’t feel anything
Take it in

Take it in, take it in, take it in
Take it in till I can’t feel anything
Take it in

Take it in, take it in, take it in
Take it in till I can’t feel anything
Take it in

Take it in, take it in, take it in
Take it in till I can’t feel anything
Take it in

about

Myrwood Amsterdam, Netherlands

Myrwood. Singer and musician always sharply dressed in black. Music to wander through endlessly, rendered in voice and synthesizer.
Both good for a strongly evocative combination of cinematic soundscapes and introspective lyrics.

Myrwood recorded her debut album, City Soundscape, in Brussels with producer/technician Michiel De Maeseneer (Sylvie Kreusch, Balthazar, Warhaus, Wende).
