Myrwood: “My urge to be seen by the opposite sex is strong, and I’m drawn to playing with sex appeal and femininity. I armored myself with lust and closed myself off to love.” She drew inspiration from the urban dating scene, where you seldom expose yourself, and lust runs rampant. She wrote the single during this time and went to Brussels to record it. Myrwood: “My first real relationship was intense. In a good way, but at times it broke me. I wrestled with my identity as a young woman and let myself get dragged into the highs and lows. My partner had bipolar disorder, and the longer we were together, the less he seemed able to be with someone. I heard around that time about the Madonna-whore complex, a theory of Sigmund Freud’s. Freud spoke of men who, when they love and respect their partner, can no longer feel lust for her. “Where such men love, they have no desire and where they desire, they cannot love,” according to Freud. “I promised myself that I would never become a Madonna. I wanted to seduce, not love. I detached myself from the relationship and the life I had built to that point. I played the role of a strong woman seducing men. I’m my own muse".
